How to Edit Your WordPress Navigation Bar

Table of Contents

A navigation bar is an essential part of any website and can be the key difference between a successful website and one that fails. It helps guide visitors through your site, leading them to where they need to go in order to find the information they are looking for. If you’re using WordPress, there are several ways you can edit your navigation bar to make it more effective and user-friendly. Let’s take a look at how you can do this.

Using Menus

The first step in editing your WordPress navigation bar is to create or edit a menu. To do this, head over to the “Appearance” section on the left side of the dashboard and click on “Menus”. From here, you can either create a new menu or edit an existing one by adding pages, links, categories, etc., that you want to appear in your navigation bar. Once you’ve done this, click on “Save Menu” and then head over to the “Manage Locations” tab (underneath the menu editor) where you will assign the menu you just created/ edited as your primary navigation bar.

Editing with Plugins

The next way you can edit your WordPress navigation bar is by using plugins. There are plenty of plugins available that allow you to customize everything from font size and color, background color, drop-down menus and more that all help enhance your navigation bar. However, keep in mind that if you choose this route it may require some coding knowledge depending on what type of customization options the plugin offers.

Using Widgets

Another option for editing your WordPress navigation bar is by using widgets. Widgets give you access to additional features such as search bars, social media icons and more which are all great additions for spicing up your navbar and making it more user-friendly. To add these widgets simply head over to the “Widgets” tab in the Appearance section of your dashboard and drag and drop whatever widget(s) you want into your navbar area.

Conclusion

Editing a WordPress navigation bar doesn’t have to be complicated or time consuming; there are plenty of options available for customizing yours quickly and easily so that it best fits with both your website design as well as its intended purpose—helping visitors navigate their way through it! Whether it’s creating/editing menus manually or taking advantage of plugins or widgets for added functionality, editing a WordPress navbar is something anyone can do successfully with just a few clicks of the mouse!
